Tolko’s High Level Lumber Suspends Operations Due to Wildfire
Tolko’s High Level Lumber has temporarily suspended operations due to the evacuation of the Town of High Level on Monday as a result of the proximity of the Chuckegg Creek wildfire.
“All employees who have not been identified as essential to asset protection, have been evacuated and should be enroute to, or have arrived at, reception centres in High Prairie and Slave Lake, as well as other locations,” says Vice President, Solid Wood, Troy Connolly.
“The mill has full fire suppression in effect and is being used as one of the staging centres for various wildfire, firefighting, and emergency crews. Only essential staff remain on site.”
Connolly went on to say Tolko will be communicating with displaced employees on important issues via its Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/TolkoIndustries/) and encouraged all employees to follow the Town of High Level Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/TownofHighLevel/) for the latest information.
Tolko High Level Lumber has an annual estimated capacity of 435 million board feet.
