Obituary: David James Brojack

David James Brojack, 66, Scott Twp., died Friday morning November 15, 2019, at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore.

Born in Peckville on January 14, 1953, he was preceded in death by his parents, William A. and Helen Guidos Brojack, and he is survived by his brother, William M. Brojack, and wife, Evelyn, Scott Twp.

David had many accomplishments during his life, but his greatest one was Brojack Lumber Company.  As a young man, Dave worked at his father’s mill. After high school, he attended Lycoming College and was a 1974 graduate with a Bachler of Arts Degree. After college, he then came back and started the wholesale part of the business at Brojack Lumber Company. He went on to open a reload in Gananoque Ontario, Canada trading lumber until 1993 when he closed that business. Since then he has serviced lumberyards all over Eastern PA, New York, and New Jersey.

Dave attained a 5th degree black Belt Master Rank in the art of Chinese Kempo-Goju when he was at college and he proceeded to open a Martial Arts School from 1972 through 2005. Dave also passed all FAA requirements to become a private pilot with an instrument rating. He owned and flew a Cherokee 160, and a Cherokee 6.

Dave served on the board of directors at Fidelity bank. He was certified as a lumber inspector and grader from Penn State University. Dave was also a dedicated member of the Pennsylvania Northeast Regional Railroad Authority since May 2008.

Dave was an avid fisherman and he took many trips to Canada where he enjoyed fishing for large native fish. He loved to travel and had a love for animals, especially his dog, Mr. Amos. Dave always was a kind and considerate person. He had many acquaintances, but only a few close friends, who he cherished. He was a wonderful boss, brother, uncle, and friend who will be greatly missed.

There will be no public calling hours. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 30, 2019, at 10 a.m. in The Church of the Epiphany Episcopal Church, 25 Church Hill, Dalton, PA. As per his family’s request, please no flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to the following charities in Dave’s name, St. Ann’s Basilica, 1250 St. Ann’s St., Scranton, PA 18504, the Salvation Army, 500 South Washington Ave., Scranton, PA 18505, or The Church of the Epiphany Episcopal Church, 25 Church Hill, Dalton, PA 18414. Arrangements are by the Frank T.
