PPG Completes COLORFUL COMMUNITIES Project in Quattordio, Italy
PPG (NYSE:PPG) today announced the completion of a COLORFUL COMMUNITIES® project that took place as part of the Quattordio Urban Art festival (QUA) of writers and street artists in Quattordio, Italy. The project brought together more than 23 PPG volunteers, who spent two days working with the artists to paint two walls with messages reflecting PPG’s commitment to sustainability.
PPG provided more than 80 gallons (300 liters) of SIGMA COATINGS™ Siloxan Matt paints by PPG, a pure siloxane exterior paint, which features high weather resistance, breathability and water repellency. Natural colors were chosen to create a soothing and calming effect. PPG also provided a grant of $28,000 (26,000 euros) to the Municipality of Quattordio to create opportunities for artistic and cultural growth of the community.
The Colorful Communities program provides PPG volunteers and products along with financial contributions to bring color and vitality to communities where the company operates around the world, such as in Quattordio, where the company produces automotive and industrial coatings.
“We are proud to support the Municipality of Quattordio for the third edition of the QUA event, which links to an element that unites us – color,” said Isabella Ercole, PPG operations director EMEA, Industrial Coatings segment. “PPG’s Colorful Communities program aims to integrate environmental and sustainable actions within each of its projects, which also links to the diversity inclusion and environmental sustainability themes chosen for the 2023 edition of QUA.”
The QUA event brought together some of the world’s most recognized artists, who produced works for more than 10 walls in Quattordio, the so-called “Italian Capital of Color.” The festival is organized by the contemporary art gallery Stradedarts and the Municipality of Quattordio, and has painted more than 30 walls in the city since the first edition in 2017.
“The presence of large multinational brands continues to generate not only jobs but also artistic and cultural growth opportunities,” said Sandro Venezia, Mayor of Quattordio. “The significant participation of PPG in QUA with a Colorful Communities project fits into this matrix.”
The Colorful Communities program, PPG’s signature initiative for supporting communities, aims to protect and beautify the neighborhoods where PPG operates around the world. Through the Colorful Communities program, PPG’s committed volunteers contribute their time and PPG paint products to help transform community assets – from painting classrooms to bringing color to a maternity ward and redesigning a playground.
